Have you ever heard or seen this statement before: Jersey Girls don't pump gas? Well, it's true, but not because women in the State of New Jersey are divas who refuse to get their hands ditry. It just so happens that New Jersey is one of two states in the USA, the other being Oregon, who have a law prohibiting their residents from pumping their own gas. This is one law I can live with since I really don't care to pump my own gas. For instance, I like not having to get out of my car in inclement weather. If I am leaving the State and Paul is not with me, I fill up in NJ before I cross the bridge except recently...
Two girlfriends and I went on a shopping trip into Pennsylvania and I completely forgot to fill the tank with gas. Wouldn't you know, the little indicator light lit up on my dash indicating that the tank was empty. Now, what? We pulled into a gas station and we were on our own. So we reasoned that with the three of us, we certainly could get the gasoline out of that gas tank and into the car's tank. Since it was my car, I would do the work and Linda would stand next to me and help me with the directions. Felicia hung out the back window and watched to make sure we did everything in order. There we were: three middle-aged women trying to fill a car with gas. I was hoping upon hope that people would notice that we had New Jersey tags and take pity on us. I'm sure we made a comical sight, nonetheless!
