Antique-A-Rama

Have I told you how much I like antiquing? I had always liked to browse through antique stores because it brought back memories of my childhood. Hero was never interested and was known to say, "It's nothing but junk!".

Anyway, we got re-acquainted with old friends [avid antiquers] a couple years ago and got into the habit of going on weekend adventures together several times during the year. Last Fall, I believe, we were exploring an old mill in Savage, Maryland. Among all the boutiques and funky shops, there was an antique center, so we decided to browse around. I watched Hero carefully to read any signs of "there's no way I'm gonna look at that crap" but to my amazement, he found a case of really cool [I guess] coins. Hero used to collect coins and stamps and had recently started collecting again. When he saw the coins in the antique center, he was smitten! He never thought that antiquing could yield such treasure. Bill and Linda [our good friends] were thrilled. It opened up a whole new world for us.
Now, we go antiquing frequently and have have it down to a science. Each one of us knows what the other one likes and we are always on the lookout for each other. The boys will scour an antique center within mintues and know almost immediately if it is worthy of any more of their time. Linda and I however, take our time searching for that special treasure. As a matter of fact, Linda and I have the uncanny ability to each pick up an item and talk about it to each other simultaneously all the while scanning the area for more treasures. This is an art...a rare talent. We have such a good time.

I also look for things for my "girls" and have picked up treasures for them from time to time. It's fun to collect something that will bring joy to a loved one. I also reminisce about my grandmother when I see the very same things that she had in her home. My Granmother was a blessing to me and I thank God for her part in my life many years ago.
So, yeah...I love antiquing! Goodnight.
