Cookie Day with Granny

Today Amelie and I spent a fun-filled day baking cookies. We had the most wonderful time! Amels was such a good girl and so much fun to bake with. I've listed below some of the more important details of the day. These events are in no paticular order simply because I can't remember.

Baked two batches of cookies: candy canes and snowballs. Amelie decided to mold her own creations instead of sticking with the traditional candy cane shape.

We then took a lunch break while watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. Amelie didn't quite finish her lunch because she had already had about three cookies, not to mention tasting cookie dough and licking the beaters.

Stopped to color and do a puzzle.

Chased Lucious because he stole a puzzle piece.

Decided to decorate a small aluminum tree with garland. However, most all the ornaments fell off when the leg fell off of the tree stand. I thought I had picked up all the small glass ornaments.

Chased Lucious got because he managed to steal one of the ornaments.

Amelie said: "Looshy is a bad boy...just like Uncle Jon!"

We nixed putting the ornaments back on the tree. Instead, we put the tree on the kitchen counter to admire the beautiful, expertly-draped garland.

Rearranged some of my decorations to suit Amels' exquisite taste!

Baked another batch of cookies. This batch was more fun for Amels since they were cutout butter cookies. Amels loved the turkey shaped cookie cutter best.

My kitchen floor fared pretty well thanks to Lucious licking up all the dropped cookie dough, spilled flour, sugar, etc.

Did you know that if you blow into a bowl of flour that the flour flies up everwhere? Amelie was experimenting with her knowledge of physics.

Took another break during which Amelie exclaimed: "Granny, I love your toilet paper!"

Amelie tried her hand at washing dishes...only measuring cups and spoons, of course. This exercise brought another opportunity to experiment with that cause and effect thing. For instance, if you hold a tiny measuring spoon under full-force running water, it sprays everywhere...similar to the flour!

Now, the house is quiet as Amels is back home for a well earned nap. I miss her already. There is nothing quite like the unbridled joy of a child at Christmastime!

The End!
