The City That Never Sleeps

Did you know that New York City is sometimes referred to as the "city that never sleeps"? Do you know why? Well, let me tell you that the reference is no exaggeration! My Hero and I, along with our friends Bill, Linda and Bill, Jr., went to see a Broadway show Saturday night. The show ended at 11:00 p.m. but you would have thought that it was midday. Stores were open and neon lights were flashing madly. I imagine that you could do or get just about anything you wanted anytime of the day or night in NYC. It was crazy! There were mobs of people and the traffic was worse than Philly at rush hour. Moms were pushing babies in strollers and teens [and kids] were gadding about...alone...in the middle of the night!

I am not a city girl or a country girl...just a suburb girl, I suppose. But I must say that if I ever had designs on becoming a city girl, New York City at 11:00 p.m. cured me of any consideration whatsoever.

The play was amazing, though. We saw Phantom of the Opera and ate at a restaurant called, Brazil, Brazil. We had a wonderful time but it was sure good to get back home to the "country".

I'll take the sounds of crickets at night over the constant hum of traffic anytime! I like living in an area where its crowded only 3 months out of the year!

Me, too! When Dad and I retire, we will probably kiss NJ goodbye and move to an area a bit more countrified.
